BUILDING THE PERFECT TABLETOP
One of the most important things we do with our clients is a full mockup. We arrange to have all of the tabletop elements ready to piece together the perfect setting. This mock up is for a wedding on a ranch in Montana.
When we approach a table design we first meet with our clients to gather more information about the overall look they are going for. Do they like modern, rustic, edgy, clean, classic, elegant or any combination of styles? Once we have a direction we build the color palette and begin selecting each piece. This wedding wanted a neutral palette with an elevated feel while still having a slight rustic touch.
We started with a natural linen tablecloth because it lightens up the space. Next, we chose sleek gold flatware to bring the warmth and glimmer to the table. The Taupe Charger and matching dinner plate added just the right amount of depth to the neutral palette. The shiny smooth texture of this dinnerware pops off the more organic feel of the linen tablecloth.
I feel strongly that a napkin is often underrated. The napkin and how it is displayed can change the overall feel by choosing a color and texture that compliments the linen and presentation plate. For this design we chose a khaki color linen napkin. This keeps the touch of rustic in mind, but we folded the napkin in a more elegant and structured manor to wrap around the dinner plate. Lastly, we choose to finish it off with a nude leather cording and floral bud and a leather place card to match.
The juxtaposition of the lush romantic floral placed center stage elevated the whole table with a warm romantic vibe.
When building a tabletop make sure each element has a purpose in creating the overall look and tying everything together.
