DISCOVER THE RICH HISTORY OF BEAULIEU GARDEN
The beloved Beaulieu story began over 130 years ago in 1883. Georges de Latour took a trip from his home in France to California, where he would continue his career as an executive at Stauffer Chemical Company. As soon as he laid eyes on the land that is now Beaulieu Garden, he knew that it was an opportunity of a lifetime. As a passionate chemist, he had an idea to use his knowledge to pursue winemaking.
First, de Latour spent a few years analyzing the unique microclimates within California. He was one of the trailblazers in discovering Napa Valley’s perfect climate and soil for winemaking. Even more specifically, he was still drawn to the terrain of Beaulieu, which had yet been claimed.
He finally purchased the land as a surprise for his lovely bride Fernande. Gazing out upon the valley and hillsides, she exclaimed, “Quel beau lieu!”—“What a beautiful place.” And thus, Beaulieu Garden was born.
Since then, the de Latours served as wonderful stewards of the land, gently preserving and shaping it into the beauty you see today. As Georges anticipated, the winemaking took off. His 600 acres of grapes expanded over the years, and de Latour imported and grafted thousands of vines in order to successfully implement traditional French winemaking practices.
The family vineyard produced a variety of wines until 1960 when it was sold. Today, the vineyard produces grapes solely for their Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (which we highly recommend).
Although they sold the vineyard, the property still belongs to the de Latour family to this day. In fact, Georges and Fernande’s legacy lives on through their great and great-great-grandchildren, who have a beautiful home on the large estate. Beaulieu Garden has been hosting celebrations as a wedding and event venue since before 1930! And their story doesn’t end there. Happily, Beaulieu Garden is still a family-owned venue through and through—a rare thing these days.

Beaulieu Garden consists of eight distinct areas within the property. Each naturally beautiful space showcases its own unique backdrop and lush space. The sprawling venue’s versatile areas make it ideal for fulfilling your wedding day ideas.
The spaces are so versatile—from the large, sprawling vineyard to the quaint, romantic rose garden—that Beaulieu Garden does not include a specific minimum or maximum guest count in their packages. However, it’s important to determine the ideal guest count for each space and arrangement, depending on the areas you plan to use.

THE VINEYARD
Beaulieu Garden produces world-renowned wine from the Napa Valley. However, the vineyard is also known for its exceptional beauty. Unlike many other vineyards with rows of crops against a sandy, unremarkable backdrop, the Beaulieu vineyard showcases the region’s most stunning seasonal color. Just past the rows of vines, mature evergreens and leafy deciduous trees create splashes of green, orange, and yellow across the hillsides in the fall. In the spring, the hills are covered in fresh, verdant shades of green.
Beyond the trees, gently rolling hills give way to majestic mountains in the distance. The vibrant Napa Valley lies between two spectacular mountain ranges. The Vaca Mountain Range rises in the east, protecting the valley from the intense heat and creating a comfortable mild climate. To the west, the Mayacamas Mountains close the valley off to the unpredictable and chilly ocean weather. This perfect combination is what makes the climate so ideal for growing wine-worthy grapes. Amazingly, Napa Valley only extends for 35 miles and is just five miles across at its widest point, making Beaulieu Garden’s large, exclusive vineyard a true gem within the small valley. Photographers come from all around to capture the pristine Beaulieu Garden vineyard, and it’s easy to see why! The vineyard looks like a scene from a French painting. No matter the season, the vineyard is sure to deliver a spectacular backdrop for your wedding day.
THE PARK
Across the tree-lined drive from the vineyard, Beaulieu Garden also boasts a naturally landscaped, wooded park. 300-year old California oaks offer beauty and full shade from their overarching limbs. Beneath the ancient oaks, gorgeous magnolias, delightful hydrangeas, and pretty azaleas provide soft color. Given the long history of the property and park, the variety of mature trees lend well to a private and secluded feel, perfect for an intimate first look or a quiet ceremony beneath the trees. And the cherry on top? A winding creek ripples its way throughout the park and the rest of the property.
THE ARBOR
At the southeast corner of the property, you’ll find The Arbor, one of the most popular spaces for outdoor receptions. In the beginning, the de Latours wanted to recreate a European vibe, so they contracted Thomas Dolliver Church to design a large arbor space adjacent to the park and vineyard.
To create this one-of-a-kind space, Church began by planting 48 shady sycamore trees. Then, he set up the latticework so that the branches rest across the wide-spaced frame to provide this spectacular canopy. Instead of columns, beautiful sycamore trunks support The Arbor. Additionally, the leafy trees let in just the right amount of sunlight for your event.
Furthermore, The Arbor looks magical both in the daytime and into the night when paired with elegant table settings, complementary arrangements and décor, and string lights overhead. Beneath The Arbor, you’ll also have access to a beautiful fully-stocked wooden bar, which looks amazing topped with greenery, florals, and sparkling signature cocktails.
As the evening goes on, take advantage of The Arbor’s red brick fireplace, perfect for a cozy seating area. Add a rug, sofa, and throw pillows to transform the space completely. Guests can chat over tea, coffee, or cocktails next to the warm glow of the fire.
Beaulieu Garden has space to accommodate your celebration, whether you’re planning a small, intimate wedding or hosting a grand affair. The arbor area also features a glistening swimming pool and green lawn outlined by lovely laurel hedges to provide extra space for your guests to spread out and enjoy the views and great company while celebrating your marriage.
ROSE GARDEN
While the other larger areas get most of the attention, the Rose Garden is one of our favorites. Soft, colorful blooms fill the garden with a delightful scent. Well over 100 years old, the rose garden showcases hundreds of hybrid rose bushes. Gravel paths and tall, colorful trees soften the formal garden. And beyond the trees, you still have full views of the rolling hills.
Although you may not hold the main portions of your wedding day here, it is a beautiful space to do a first look, share a sweet moment, and take photos. Guests will love discovering this quiet spot on the property as well.
SUNKEN GARDEN
After making your way through the blissful rose garden, walk down the steps into the enchanting Sunken Garden, which includes an eclectic display of fountains, statues, rose bushes, yew trees, and boxwoods. The Sunken Garden is ideal for private wedding ceremonies. We love the stone European lily pond and cherub fountain, and tall laurel hedges enclose the space for a very romantic feel.
For a more relaxed yet elegant look (or if you want to have both the ceremony and reception in the Sunken Garden), you can vary the seating to include chairs, padded benches, and tables. The Sunken Garden offers an authentic garden ambiance that we absolutely love.
CULINARY GARDEN AND ORCHARD
In the fertile Napa Valley, there’s nothing Beaulieu Garden can’t grow. In addition to vibrant flowers and fruitful vines, the property successfully grows a wide variety of produce as well. In partnership with award-winning Paula LeDuc Fine Catering, the family has kept the 100-year garden flourishing and producing some of the best tasting fruits and vegetables you can find.
Within the garden and orchard, you’ll find fragrant herbs, a variety of seasonal vegetables, juicy fruits, rich olives, and even table grapes. The farm-to-garden availability is one of the many reasons we adore this venue so much. Not only does Beaulieu Garden offer stunning spaces and a scenic backdrop, but they also excel in their culinary offerings. Your dishes will come alive with sun-ripened fresh flavors.
ITALIAN GARDEN
In an instant, you’re transported to Italy. This formal Italian-inspired garden features a circular fountain and perfectly manicured topiary figures. Meanwhile, the dogwood trees display seasonal blooms, and the English yew trees offer plenty of shade. Decorative climbing roses and Daphne blooms provide lovely pops of color and subtle fragrance. If you book a stay in the VIP suite, you can take advantage of the tennis courts next to the Italian Garden as well.
